Minutes of Lunenburg Board of Trade Council Meeting

5pm April 23; at the LBoT Boardroom

Call to Order:   5:06pm by Tim Lekhi

Motion: (LM)    To approve agenda as presented  – All in Favour.

Motion: (PB)     Approval of minutes of the April 9 Board Meeting, provided Lorne Johanson is listed as a guest presentor  – All in Favour.

Business Arising:        Open House: postponed to allow more council members to attend and to                        introduce our staff and management for 2019. The meeting will be held at  the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic in the theatre on the third floor; Tuesday, May 28 at 6pm.

                                    VIC and Campground: See Committee Reports below

Committee Reports:     Town Map update (LM):.Same price points as last year. The only panel we lose is advertising listings. It should be out by the end of May.

Motion: (LM)    To have the map competed as discussed. – All in Favour.

                                    Employee Search Update (AV): 4 of last year’s staff are returning. 4 candidates  have been interviewed.  Recommend hiring 2, depending on grants. (waiting on  federal grants).  An excellent candidate for VIC manager has been interviewed.

Motion: (LM)    To grant permission for the Personnel Committee to hire the two recommended for staff and the recommended candidate for VIC manager.- All in Favour.         

                                    VIC (TL): VIC alterations and renovations 90% complete. Wall removed to allow surveillance camera to see entire downstairs. (washroom excepted). Self help booking for accommodation, excursions, events and dining (locally managed HTML File to provide picture and link to services mentioned) (TR).  Landline to be available downstairs for booking conformation as well. (IC).

Motion: (LS)     re: UPS protection: To protect 2 computers for 15-20 minutes to allow time for proper shutdown. Surge protection to be provided for all computers.- All in Favour.

                                    Campground (LS): Campground WiFi is old. One modem is not working. NCS  quote to replace system with Mesh Network - $1260 + tax = $1449.

Motion: (LM)    To upgrade current WiFi to a Mesh Network at a cost of $1260 + Tax.- All in Favour.

                                    Campground (TL): Maintenance: Regular periodic testing of water pressure to expose leaks. Monitor meter Daily? Weekly? Use air compressor to test pressure early in May. Normal pressure 30lb/sq. in. Test at 60. Keep consumption log.

New Business:             Bluenose 100  Celebration;  March – October, 2020. (SCG) Cellphone and additional computer for LBoT Office. (PB). Deferred to next meeting or when budget is updated.

                                    Local Procurement Question (TL). Deferred?

                                    Town of Lunenburg property tax hike. (TL). Support Jamie to represent LBoT at Town Council Meetings.

                                    RBC: Direct Deposit, plans for GIC and Bank Fees. Deferred.
