Council Minutes November 1st,2022

 Minutes from the Lunenburg Board of Trade Council Meeting:

9:00 AM; November 1st, 2022 at The Boardroom

Present:           Sam Eisener, Gale Fullerton, Robin Joost, Jamie Myra, Will Wells.

Call to Order:   9:03am by Jamie Myra.

Approval of Agenda and set time for adjournment;  10am: (SE,RJ) – Passed.

Approval of Minutes from previous meeting: (RJ,RB) – Passed.

Business Arising:        Renea Babineau - Draft Budget for 2022/23 – Review Budget and discuss at next meeting. (Juggling of revenue sources: Money, GIC, etc.

New Business:    (JM) -  Housing Advocacy Group Request-Support for meeting in Spring with Unesco.

(JM) – Oktoberfest Summary: Simplify; One Location.

  (JM) – Housing Advocacy Group Request.

(Kandace Forward / Renea Babineau): Winter Holiday event . Apply for Grant for Parade.

(Kandace Forward / Robin Joost) – Bathroom/VIC Building Renovations Discussion of repairs needed: The VIC building, ( Blockhouse), needs repairs to the back entry door, replacement of siding on the South side, Foundation shift, leaking roof over the front door. Robin has estimated that this facelift will cost around $10,000. The building that houses the washrooms and showers needs to be gutted to the frame and rebuilt and fitted with new fixtures and refinished. This will make it much faster and easier to clean. The cost will be $40,000. Robin has agreed to do the work.

 Motion: (WW,SE)To spend up to $10,000 to repair the Blockhouse back entry door, replace rotted siding on the south side, repair the main entry roof. (Passed). 

Motion: (WW,SE) To spend up $40,000 to gut the main washroom building and rebuild and install new plumbing and fixtures in the main building. Replace plumbing where needed in the portables and complete the projects by mid to late April.                                                      

Motion: (WW,SE): To allow a family of 5 to Dry Camp at the Campground for a month. The parents are working and looking for housing. The children are school age. (includes electrical hook up.
